Our Story

Hi! My name is Erin Schmidt and I launched What to Wear Solutions in 2025. The company is inspired by my lifelong love of fashion. I studied fashion design at Parsons after spending a career in consulting in Washington, DC (major change). Then I spent 8 years as a retail analyst writing about trends in the apparel industry. 

I (finally) launched What to Wear Solutions because I realized my true calling has been in styling all along. I have been helping my friends and colleagues shop for years and I truly love helping people  look their best. My diverse background has been very helpful in terms of understanding clients' needs in styling and personal shopping; I have firsthand knowledge of working in a corporate environment so I understand the items clients are seeking for workwear wardrobe refresh appointments. I have a deep  understanding of apparel fabrication from studying fashion design, so this is very helpful when I recommend specific silhouettes for different body types for personal styling.  

I have gained incredible professional styling experience at Nordstrom's NYC Flagship store in the women's contemporary department and at Anthropologie's NYC flagship store at Rockefeller Center. In my spare time, I vigorously shop sample sales, go on long walks while listening to books, research industry trends, and talk with my sisters and friends.
